Braeswood Project
Budget: $230,000 – $250,000
This Brazewood-area renovation transformed an outdated, elevation-challenged backyard into a cohesive, resort-style outdoor living space. The original design featured a small deck, aging pool finishes, and disconnected landscaping that limited both function and flow.
We expanded and wrapped the existing deck around the home, reusing the original frame while extending the footprint for improved usability. An open staircase now connects the upper and lower levels, resolving the grade change and improving circulation, while steel railing with braided wire creates a clean, modern, open feel.
To provide shade without blocking natural light, a tall A-frame gabled patio cover was constructed with integrated skylights. A light pine tongue-and-groove ceiling contrasts the neutral gray and black tones, keeping the space bright while protecting the home’s main living area from excessive sun.
The remodeled pool area completes the transformation with new coping, Scandina gray pavers, split-face veneer, and a modernized waterfall integrated into a new retaining wall. A two-foot elevated seating platform and horizontal privacy slats add dimension, resulting in a unified outdoor retreat built for entertaining, relaxation, and everyday use.
