This recently completed backyard project in Houston’s Memorial area is both functional and visually stunning. This transformation blends innovative design elements with practical solutions tailored to the client’s specific needs.
The original backyard featured a stamped concrete patio that the homeowner wanted to replace. To elevate the space, we installed a custom concrete inlay with a modern turf checkerboard pattern that extends across the front of the house, offering a bold and modern aesthetic.
A unique aspect of this project was the use of two distinct types of turf to address specific challenges. For areas exposed to intense window reflections, we opted for a durable, burn-resistant nylon turf. Meanwhile, in the primary yard space, we used a soft, playscape turf designed for the family’s kids and pets, ensuring a safe and comfortable surface for play and relaxation.
The transformation extended throughout the pool area, where we maximized usability by removing two large pine trees. This not only enhanced the overall space but also allowed for the redesign of a key pathway. The original angled path was restructured into a straight line leading directly from the home’s main living area to the pool, creating a seamless flow and improving accessibility.
