How much does an irrigation system cost in Houston?
Most systems run $3,500 to $15,000, or roughly $700 to $1,200 per zone installed. The number of zones the yard needs, the supply and backflow work, and how much drip goes into beds are the main variables.
How many zones does my yard need?
As many as it has genuinely different watering requirements. Turf in full sun, turf in shade, shrub beds, and containers are four different schedules. Trying to run them off fewer zones is the most common reason a system waters badly and costs more than it should.
Does irrigation actually save water compared to hand watering?
Correctly zoned and scheduled, yes, substantially, because it puts the right volume in the right place at the right time of day. Badly zoned, it wastes more than a hose. The design is what determines which of those you get.
Do you repair existing irrigation systems?
Yes. Existing systems are audited head by head, with leaks, broken heads, valve faults, and coverage gaps corrected. Often an audit and re-zone gets more out of an old system than adding to it would.
Is irrigation work licensed in Texas?
Yes. Irrigation installation is regulated by the TCEQ and requires a licensed irrigator, and backflow prevention is a code requirement. Ask any contractor for their licence number before work starts.
