How much does drainage work cost in Houston?

Why does my Houston yard hold water after every storm?
Because Beaumont clay does not absorb it. Water that would soak away on sandy soil sits on the surface here until something moves it. That makes drainage a routing problem, and the fix is collecting the water and taking it somewhere rather than trying to make the ground drink it.
Will a French drain solve standing water?
Only if the standing water is caused by saturated ground and the drain is placed where the fall actually goes. Installed at the wrong end of the fall it does nothing. That is why we shoot levels and trace downspouts before quoting rather than after.
Where can drainage water legally discharge?
To daylight on your own lot, into a dry well, or to the street where the local code permits it. Requirements vary between City of Houston and the villages. We confirm what is allowed at your address as part of design.
Do I need drainage before building a patio or lawn?
Almost always, and it is far cheaper before than after. A patio, a lawn, or a structure built over water with nowhere to go will fail, and correcting it afterwards means taking up what you just paid for.
