How much does landscape installation cost in Houston?
It is scoped per project against bed area, plant sizes at installation, and how much soil preparation the beds need. Plant size at install is the biggest lever: the same scheme in larger container sizes can double the figure and save you two years of waiting.
Why do my plants keep dying in August?
Usually because they were selected for how they looked in April. Houston’s combination of heat, humidity, and clay kills anything not adapted to it, regardless of how well it was planted. Species selection for this climate is the fix, not more water.
Do I need to replace the soil in my beds?
Rarely replace, usually amend. Compacted Houston clay needs breaking up and amending to the depth the planting needs so roots can enter it. Where water sits, the bed is raised instead. Bringing in entirely new soil is expensive and often unnecessary.
How long until a new planting scheme fills in?
One to three growing seasons depending on the plant sizes installed. We can tell you at design what the scheme looks like at year one versus year three, so you can decide where to spend on larger material and where to be patient.
Do you handle irrigation for new beds?
Yes. Drip and bubblers are added or adjusted as part of the planting work, because spray heads throwing over a shrub bed waste most of what they put out and rarely reach the root zone.
