Existing surface removed and a compacted aggregate base built to grade. The base is what keeps the turf flat and draining years later.

Site Walk and Use Assessment
We walk the area and establish what it is for: a play lawn, a dog run, a pool surround, and a putting surround are four different products. Shade, traffic, and drainage are recorded, because those decide the base more than the turf does.

The existing surface is removed and a compacted aggregate base is built to grade. The base is what keeps the turf flat and draining years later, and it is where most cheap installations save money.

What moves the price of an artificial turf lawn up or down?
Most turf installations run $8,000 to $25,000, or roughly $9 to $16 per square foot installed. Area, the turf product specified, how much excavation and base the site needs, and whether drain lines are required beneath it are the main variables.
Does artificial turf get hot in a Houston summer?
In full sun it gets hotter than natural grass, yes. In shade it does not. That is one reason turf performs best in the conditions it is usually chosen for, which are shaded yards, side yards, and dog runs. Lighter blade colours and cooling infills reduce it, and we will tell you honestly if a full-sun lawn is the wrong application.
Is artificial turf suitable for dogs?
It is one of the best applications for it, provided the base is permeable and the infill is pet-appropriate. Urine drains through a properly built base and rinses down with a hose. On a base built without drainage it does not, which is where the complaints about odour come from.
How long does artificial turf last?
Typically 15 to 20 years for the turf itself, and longer for the base if it was built properly. The base outlives the turf, which means a re-turf later is a much smaller job than the original installation.
Turf or sod: which should I choose?
Sod is the right answer in real sun with irrigation in place. Turf is the right answer in heavy shade, in dog runs, on slopes, and anywhere natural grass has already failed twice. We tell you which one your yard actually supports rather than which one we would rather sell.
