Why do landscape lighting quotes vary so much?
Most lighting projects run $4,500 to $15,000, or roughly $250 to $450 per fixture installed. Fixture count and quality, transformer and zoning requirements, and how much cable has to be run under existing paving are the main variables.
Are solar landscape lights worth it?
For a permanent scheme, no. Solar stake lights fade within a season or two in this climate, produce too little light to be useful, and cannot be aimed or controlled. Low-voltage on buried cable with a real transformer is what a lighting scheme is built on.
How long do LED landscape fixtures last?
Quality brass and copper fixtures with replaceable LED lamps will run 15 years or more, and the lamps themselves 40,000 hours or more. Cheap sealed units fail as a whole unit and cannot be repaired, which is why fixture specification matters more than fixture count.
Can lighting be added to an existing patio or wall?
It can, but the wiring will be surface-run or will mean lifting paving. Setting conduit during a hardscape build costs very little and cannot be replicated afterwards, which is why we ask about lighting at the patio design stage rather than later.
Can I control the lights from my phone?
Yes. Timers, photocells, and app-based control are all options, set up and handed over working rather than left in the box. Zoning matters here too, because controlling everything as one circuit removes most of the benefit.
