Houston Paver Contractor Building Patios on a Proper Base

A patio that settles after two summers was never based correctly. As your paver contractor we build the base first, then the surface. Book a consultation.

01 — Scope

What’s included in the work.

Every project has the same core scope, adapted to the specific property and program.

  • 01

    Base Preparation

Excavation to depth and a compacted base built for Houston clay, which moves with moisture and takes paving with it when the base is thin.

  • 02

    Drainage & Grading

Falls set across the surface and channel or French drains tied in where the water needs somewhere to go.

  • 03

    Paving Materials

Concrete pavers, travertine, flagstone, natural stone, or poured and finished concrete, specified for the look and the traffic.

  • 04

    Layout & Pattern

Joint lines, module size, and orientation set out against the house and the pool so cuts land where they were intended to.

  • 05

    Edges & Transitions

Borders, soldier courses, coping, steps, and the junctions into turf, planting, and existing slabs detailed rather than left to the crew.

  • 06

    Walls & Level Changes

Seat walls, retaining walls, planters, and stairs built and faced to carry the same material palette across grade changes.

02 — Craft

Everything you see.
Everything you don’t.

What separates a landscape that lasts from one that fails in two summers is the work you never see — grade, drainage, soil preparation, and compacted base. On Houston clay, that is most of the job.

And what you do see — the joint lines, the bed edges, the level of a terrace against the house — we hold to the same standard.

03 — Investment

Roughly what it costs.

The range below is what work of this kind typically runs in Houston, so you can place yourself in it before you call. It is a starting point, not a quote — every project is scoped to the specific property, program, and material selections.

We confirm a clear investment range in the initial consultation and issue a detailed proposal after the design phase.

What moves the number
  • Square footage and the paving material
  • Base depth, and how much excavation the clay on your lot requires
  • Drainage — channel drains, French drains, and where the water is taken
  • Seat walls, retaining walls, and steps across grade changes
  • Equipment access to the back of the lot
Typical investment

$12,000 – $45,000

Most projects of this type

$20 – $40per sq ft installed
At the lower end
A rear terrace in concrete pavers on a properly built base, with no significant change in level.
At the upper end
A large travertine or natural stone terrace with seat walls, steps, drains, and borders detailed into the house and the pool.

A range, not a quote. Your figure depends on square footage, materials, how much grading and drainage the site needs, and equipment access.
