Landscaping Services in Spring Branch, Houston
Spring Branch mixes lot sizes and house styles, and the rear yards are often generous. That room opens up options for terrace size, structures, and lawn that tighter parts of Houston do not have.
Why Spring Branch Homeowners Choose Texan Landscape Group
- 01
This is where our yard is.
Texan Landscape Group operates out of 2000 Campbell Road, in Spring Branch, 77080. Our crews are not driving in from the other side of the county to get to your street, and we have been looking at this ground for twenty years.
- 02
We know which sections still drain to an open ditch.
Large parts of older Spring Branch still run roadside ditch drainage rather than curb and gutter, and it is the single most common reason a new patio or drive creates a problem for the neighbour. Culverts, driveway crossings and grade transitions get resolved on the drawing.
- 03
20+ years, 1,200+ completed Houston projects, and 396+ reviews across platforms.
Chris Gosselin, our founder, holds a Construction Management degree from the University of Arkansas and still designs and builds.

Landscaping Services in Spring Branch: Ranch Lots and Rebuilds
Straightforward site access on most Spring Branch lots means larger hardscape areas and built structures are practical to deliver. Drainage still drives the layout — the grade is set before the paving is.
Our Landscape Design Process in Spring Branch
- 01
Site Walk and Levels
We walk the property, shoot levels, and find where water currently goes in a downpour — including into and out of any roadside ditch across your frontage.
- 02
Jurisdiction Check
Most of Spring Branch is City of Houston, which means no zoning and deed restrictions as the operative control. But 77055 also contains Spring Valley Village and Hilshire Village, both independent cities with their own permits. We confirm which one you are in before we design.
- 03
Design, Grading and Drainage
Layout and planting are drawn with the grade, not after it. On a rebuild lot that means reconciling your finished floor with the lots either side; on an original ranch it usually means getting water out of a flat back yard that has been holding it for sixty years.
- 04
Build
Excavation, base, structures, planting and systems in sequence. Irrigation and drainage go in before final grading and planting, because reversing that order means doing it twice.
- 05
Walkthrough and Handover
We walk the finished yard with you, hand over the controls, and tell you what the first year actually needs.
One Street, Two Different Houses
Spring Branch is the most mixed streetscape of any market we serve. The original stock is 1950s and 1960s single-storey brick ranch on generous lots, and next door to it there is now routinely a 4,000-square-foot rebuild on a raised slab with almost no mature planting left. A design that works on one usually looks wrong on the other.
On the ranches the job is normally shade management, bed renovation and drainage on a lot that still has its pecans and live oaks. On the rebuilds it is a full landscape package with structure to create from nothing, and a grade that has to reconcile a new finished floor elevation with a neighbour who is eight inches lower.

Landscaping Services Available in Spring Branch, 77055
Spring Branch back yards are generally larger than the inner-loop average, which is why more of this work is full-package rather than single-service.
- 01
Drainage first — drainage solutions and irrigation systems, including ditch-section frontages and driveway culverts.
- 02
Ground — sod installation, artificial turf and landscape installation on lots with enough open sun to support real lawn, which is not true everywhere in Houston.
- 03
Terraces and structures — outdoor patios, pergolas, patio covers, wood decks and fence installation.
- 04
Room to use — bigger rear yards here make putting greens, athletic courts and pool design realistic in a way they are not on a 5,000 square foot lot.
- 05
Ongoing — residential property maintenance for owners who want the yard kept rather than rebuilt every few years.

Spring Branch Landscaping FAQs
Are you actually based in Spring Branch?
Yes. Our yard is at 2000 Campbell Road, Houston TX 77080, inside Spring Branch. That is not a marketing address — it is where the material and the equipment are. For most of this ZIP it means a short drive, faster response when something needs attention after a build, and twenty years of looking at the same soil and the same drainage.
My street has an open ditch instead of a curb. Does that change what I can build?
It changes the drive, the frontage and sometimes the grade of the whole front yard. A lot of older Spring Branch still runs roadside ditch drainage, and a new driveway needs a culvert sized and set so it does not dam the ditch for you or your neighbours. It also means the front yard has somewhere to send water, which is often an advantage — provided the grading is done to use it rather than fight it.
Do I need a permit for a patio or fence in Spring Branch?
In the City of Houston portions, a ground-level patio generally does not need one, and a fence only needs a permit above eight feet or if it is masonry or concrete at any height. But 77055 also contains Spring Valley Village and Hilshire Village, and in those cities a permit is required for driveways, patios, decks and fences as routine. We confirm which jurisdiction your address falls in before quoting.
The house next door was rebuilt and now my yard holds water. Can that be fixed?
Usually, and it is one of the more common calls we get in this area. A rebuild on a raised slab changes where water goes on both sides of the fence. The fix is normally a combination of regrading, area drains and a proper outfall rather than a single French drain, and it needs to be designed against what the neighbouring lot is now doing, not just your own.
Can my Spring Branch yard support real grass, or do I need turf?
More of Spring Branch can carry natural sod than most inner-loop markets, because the rear yards are bigger and a lot of the rebuild lots lost their canopy. Where the original pecans and live oaks are still standing, the shade problem is the same as Memorial’s. We will tell you which parts of your yard can hold St. Augustine and which parts will keep thinning no matter what you spend.
Do you work along Long Point and the older Spring Branch sections as well as the newer builds?
Yes, and they are genuinely different jobs. Original 1950s ranch lots are renovation work — bed rebuilds, shade management, drainage correction, often around trees worth keeping. Rebuild lots are full landscape packages with everything to create. We price and schedule them differently, and we will say on the first walk which one your property is.
