Turf and Paver Grid Installation for Houston Drives and Paths

A paver grid with turf joints is a hardscape decision as much as a lawn one: the layout, the joint width, and the cutting are what make it look deliberate rather than patched. It gives a walkable, draining surface with no mowing and no dead strips.

01 — Scope

What’s included in the work.

Every project has the same core scope, adapted to the specific property and program.

  • 01

    Grid Layout

Paver size, spacing, and orientation set out against the house lines so the grid stays square to what it sits beside.

  • 02

    Base & Compaction

One compacted base built for the pavers and the turf together so the two surfaces cannot settle at different rates.

  • 03

    Paver Setting

Pavers set level and to a consistent joint, whether that is a tight reveal or a wide planted gap.

  • 04

    Turf Cutting & Seaming

Turf cut tight to every paver edge and seamed so the joints look intended rather than trimmed to fit.

  • 05

    Drainage

Permeable base and drain lines where the grade needs them, so water leaves through the grid instead of standing on it.

  • 06

    Edge & Border Detailing

Perimeter restraint and border detailing against beds, walls, and the paving already there.

02 — Craft

Everything you see.
Everything you don’t.

What separates a landscape that lasts from one that fails in two summers is the work you never see — grade, drainage, soil preparation, and compacted base. On Houston clay, that is most of the job.

And what you do see — the joint lines, the bed edges, the level of a terrace against the house — we hold to the same standard.

03 — Investment

Roughly what it costs.

The range below is what work of this kind typically runs in Houston, so you can place yourself in it before you call. It is a starting point, not a quote — every project is scoped to the specific property, program, and material selections.

We confirm a clear investment range in the initial consultation and issue a detailed proposal after the design phase.

What moves the number
  • Area, paver size, and the joint width the grid is set to
  • How much cutting and seaming the layout asks for
  • Turf product — pile height, density, and backing
  • Base depth, and the drainage built under the grid
  • Edge restraint against beds, walls, and the paving already there
Typical investment

$8,000 – $28,000

Most projects of this type

$22 – $38per sq ft installed
At the lower end
A short entry or side-yard grid on an even grade, set out square with a standard turf product between the pavers.
At the upper end
A full rear-yard grid with wide joints, cut curves or angles, drain lines under the base, and premium turf seamed tight to every edge.

A range, not a quote. Your figure depends on square footage, materials, how much grading and drainage the site needs, and equipment access.
