Site Walk and Route Setting
We walk the route with you and set the path line and width around how the yard is actually used, including gate swings and the bin run. A path that is 200mm too narrow gets walked around, so the width is agreed on the ground rather than on a plan.

Excavation and Separation Fabric
The path is cut to depth and a separation fabric goes under the aggregate so the base and the soil stay apart. Without it, clay works up through the gravel and the path turns to mud in two wet seasons.

Edging
Steel, concrete, or stone edging is installed so the gravel stays on the path and out of the lawn and beds. This is the single detail most gravel paths are missing and the reason most of them fail.

Aggregate and Compaction
Decomposed granite or gravel is laid in lifts and compacted so the surface walks firm rather than loose. Compacting in one pass leaves a path you sink into; laying in lifts is what makes it walkable.

Will the gravel wash away in a Houston storm?
