Where does the water go?
Either to a proper drain connection, or to a gravel and sump bed sized for the volume where no connection exists. It does not go into a planting bed, which is what most retrofitted outdoor showers end up doing and why they get abandoned.
Will an outdoor shower freeze in a Houston winter?
Not if it is built for it. Insulated supply lines, a mixing valve rated for it, and a means of isolating and draining the run handle the few hard-freeze nights we get. Retrofitting freeze protection after a burst line costs several times what building it in costs.
Do I need hot water outside?
If the shower is meant to be used after a pool swim in October, yes. A cold-only rinse gets used in July and abandoned the rest of the year. Running hot supply at build stage is far cheaper than adding it later.
How long does an outdoor shower take to install?
Usually one to two weeks on site, depending on how far the supply and drainage runs are and the wall and floor finish specified.
