Albans Road: Custom Pergola and Kitchen in West University

The centerpiece of the project is a custom 25×10 pressure-treated pergola that connects the main home to the garage apartment, creating a seamless covered outdoor living space. Finished with a Hercules roof, the structure provides protection from the elements while still allowing natural light to flow through the home’s French doors. Ceiling fans and café-style string lighting complete the space, making it just as enjoyable on warm summer evenings as it is during the day.

Beneath the pergola sits a 16-foot custom outdoor kitchen designed to complement the home’s classic architecture. A traditional brick façade pairs with a black leathered granite countertop for a refined, timeless appearance. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in grill, griddle, sink, deep refrigerator drawers, trash pullout, and ample storage.

To elevate the patio, we removed the existing stamped concrete and poured a new slab before installing a dual-tone travertine tile overlay in a diamond pattern. The result is a sophisticated European inspired finish that adds character while providing exceptional long-term durability.

The landscape was completed with 800 square feet of premium Imperial artificial turf, including a combination of traditional installation and a custom grid pattern that adds visual interest and complements the surrounding hardscape. The turf creates a lush, low-maintenance lawn that’s ideal for pets, children, and entertaining year-round.
