01 — Overview

This Houston backyard was completely reimagined into a modern, low-maintenance outdoor retreat, combining clean lines, fresh greenery, and thoughtful design. Originally covered in outdated, cross-hatched poured concrete, the space was transformed with new concrete work and integrated turf, creating a seamless and stylish look around the pool area.

Design Approach

A three-foot-wide concrete walkway stretches twenty feet alongside the home, echoing the same modern finish applied behind the pool wall. Along the pool’s edge, 3×3 square concrete pavers were installed with durable nylon artificial turf in between—specially chosen to withstand window reflection and heat, ensuring long-lasting beauty and performance.

To enhance privacy and greenery, we installed a 30-gallon hedge of Eagleson hollies along the back fence, complete with integrated lighting for a stunning nighttime effect. Behind the pool wall, a layer of colorful landscape plants adds visual interest and will continue to grow in over time, providing a lush backdrop for entertaining.
